// OBJECTIVE T-05 // RUBRIC FIRST

Essay feedback.

Line editing a paper whose argument sits in the wrong place polishes sentences that should not exist. So the structural pass comes first, always, and the verbal pass only happens once the shape is settled. Two passes, in that order, is the whole method.

01Structure first, sentences second

The first pass ignores prose entirely. It asks whether the paper answers the question it was set, whether the claim appears early enough for a grader to find it, whether each paragraph does one job, and whether the evidence sits next to the assertion it supports. Papers lose most of their marks in that layer, and no amount of careful phrasing recovers them.

Only after that is settled does the second pass touch language: sentences that lose their subject, hedging that removes the claim, transitions that assert a connection the argument has not made. Both passes come back as tracked changes with the reasoning attached, so you can see what moved and decline anything you disagree with. It is your paper and your name on it.

02Every note names the row it serves

Generic feedback is close to useless. Told to be more analytical, most students add adjectives. Told that the analysis row asks for the implication of the evidence and that paragraph four stops at describing it, they can fix it in ten minutes and fix it themselves next time.

So each comment carries the rubric row behind it, and the rows with the most weight get the most attention. Where a criterion is not addressed anywhere in the draft, that is stated as a gap rather than softened, because a missing criterion is a scored zero on that row no matter how strong everything around it reads.

03Sources, similarity and provenance

References are opened, one at a time. A source that does not exist in the form cited, a page number pointing at something else, a claim attributed to an author who argued the opposite: all of these are found by graders and all of them change how the rest of the paper is read. Fixing them is dull work and it is where a good proportion of an edit's value sits.

A similarity report is a diagnostic, not a verdict. Scores are assembled from quoted material, the reference list and ordinary disciplinary phrasing, so the number alone says very little; what matters is which passages matched and whether each one is properly attributed. Keeping your drafts, notes and source files as you go is the simplest way to show the work is yours. Where a whole paper needs building rather than repairing, that runs under full class help, and the recurring weekly writing under coursework ops.

The paper, the assignment brief and the rubric. Without the rubric the edit is guesswork. Pricing is free and comes back within two hours.

STEP_02

Two passes run

Structure is settled first, language second, with each note tagged to the criterion it serves and the sources checked individually.

STEP_03

Marked and clean copies

You get both versions plus a short summary of what would raise the grade most, so the next paper starts stronger.

FAQQuestions to control

What exactly comes back to me?

Two files and a summary. A marked copy carrying tracked changes and comments, each tagged to the rubric row it serves, and a clean copy you could submit. The summary lists the changes that would move your grade most, in order, so if you only have an hour before the deadline you know which three things to deal with first.

Does the edited draft still read as my writing?

That is the constraint the edit works under. Your habits of phrasing, sentence length and formality are read from the draft and kept, because a paper that suddenly sounds like a different writer creates a problem the grade improvement does not compensate for. Changes fix clarity, structure and accuracy rather than replacing your voice with a smoother one.

Are my references actually opened and checked?

Yes, individually. Each reference is opened and checked for three things: that it exists as cited, that the page or section actually contains what you attributed to it, and that it is current enough for the claim. Fabricated and mangled citations are the fastest way to lose a grader's trust in an otherwise sound paper.

Which citation manuals are covered?

APA, MLA, AMA and Turabian, applied from the current edition rather than from memory or from a generator. Every entry in the reference list is verified against the source it names, because generators reliably mishandle edited collections, government documents and anything with a corporate author, which is precisely what nursing and education papers are full of.

My paper is due tomorrow. Too late?

Often, and you will be told immediately if not. Short deadlines change what is possible: a structural rebuild needs time your paper may no longer have, so the pass concentrates on the highest-weight rubric rows and on anything factually wrong. Booking a paper three days out costs less and produces a better result, every time.
